HAZELWOOD, MO (KTVI) – An 8-year-old child was found locked inside a car at the St. Louis Outlet Mall Wednesday morning. Hazelwood police say they got a call after someone spotted the child in a car that was parked in a fire lane. Police say the child was in the car for about 30 minutes while the caregiver was dropping off another child at the mall.

The officer asked the girl to unlock the door, took her inside to get a drink and call her parents.

Police are still investigating and will seek charges of child endangerment against the caregiver.
