HOUSTON, TX - Some scary moments over the weekend for residents of a Houston apartment complex.
They came face-to-face with a deadly cobra that managed to slither its way through the building.
Reporter foti kallergis talked to residents.
(Jan Johnson) "We screamed, and we ran back into the apartment and shut the door."
Angry and ready to attack. An albino Monocled Cobra.
Standing its ground on the third floor hallway inside the Rice lofts downtown.
(Jan Johnson) "For a second, your brain does not compute what that is."
Jan Johnson opened her front Saturday to find the two foot Cobra.
Her across the hall neighbor?
(Joseph Manglicmot) "I freaked out, I thought was it there when I left? No."
walked into a scary standoff.
The venomous Cobra blocking Joseph Manglicmot's front door.
(Joseph Manglicmot) "Had a wedding to go to on Saturday. I was running super late."
his fear for snakes? Greater than his fear for heights.
(Joseph Manglicmot) "I went out my neighbor's window and I scaled the wall into my place." within minutes.
(Man) "Instantly we were like we have to go see this."
More residents surrounded the young cobra.
(Man) "Everybody was a little shocked."
(Jan Johnson) "We talked about throwing a laundry basket over him or doing something. But we were worried that the snake was going to go someplace where we couldn't find him. So it's better to keep him in sight."
One resident even tried to use a toy robot to corner the Cobra.
That plan failed too.
Police officers now on the scene.
Three of them.
(Man #2) "We handed them the broom."
One with Johnson's broom in hand Mmanglicmot's pillow case and another armed with his taser gun.
Strike one the Cobra puts up a fight.
Officers go in. The snake slithers from their hold.
The officers try again, another camera angle the officers finally sack him.
(Man #2) "It was a trip."
Then they quickly go down the elevator.
(Brian Moss) "One misstep and one of them would have been in a hospital quick."
The Cobra was handed over to Brian Moss with a all animal control.
(Brian Moss) "He had struck probably 150 times."
He euthanized the Cobra, saying it was far too aggressive.
(Brian Moss) "That particular Cobra is one of the deadliest snakes in the world."
The big questions now, whose Cobra was it?
