NEW YORK (KTV) – Images of endangered species were projected onto the Empire State Building in New York City Saturday night.

The Oceanic Preservation Society and The Discovery Channel organized the event in honor of Cecil, the lion who was killed during an illegal hunt in Zimbabwe.

The images of animals were projected onto the iconic landmark to draw attention to the amount of endangered species, and to promote The Discovery Channel’s upcoming documentary, “Racing Extinction.”
