ST. LOUIS (KTVI) - Can Skate is a community event aiming to teach students the importance of collaboration, community exchange, and involvement. It’s a back-to-school skate party targeted at underserved elementary school students.

Students are asked to bring five canned goods as their admission in exchange for a free skating party and book bag/school supply giveaway.

The canned goods will be donated to the non-profit organization Haven of Grace, a shelter for teen mothers.

The goal of Can Skate is to teach compassion and philanthropy to youth by highlighting the importance of both giving and receiving.

Can Skate is Saturday, August 8 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at St. Nick’s Skating Rink, 701 N. 18th Street in St. Louis.
