ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) - Two days before the one year anniversary of his son's death, Mike Brown, Senior and his charity reached out to help the homeless.

Brown and members of his charity called 'Chosen For Change' served lunch to the homeless downtown at the New Life Evangelistic Center.

Before lunch was served, New Life`s owner Larry Rice led a moment of silence for Mike Brown, Junior outside the shelter.

Brown says his charity is all about giving back to the community.
The charity supplied the food for the lunch.

As the weekend of events remembering Mike Brown Junior gets underway, his father says his message is "heal our city."

"We are very, very happy to be down here to show support, just give back, just show our love because this is a bad time for everybody you know with the situation that`s going on in our lives," said Brown. Brown`s charity is sponsoring several events this weekend.

Among them, a moment of silence and march on the one year anniversary of the shooting on Sunday.
