HAZELWOOD, MO (KTVI) – Gunfire from one moving vehicle into another left one man dead and another injured on Interstate 170 in Hazelwood early Sunday morning.

The Major Case Squad has been activated.

It happened a little after 1:30 am, police said.

Brian Valley, 32, of Pagedale was driving on southbound 170 with at least 2 passengers in his SUV when another car pulled up alongside, police said.

Gunfire followed a lot of it.

7-10 shots were fired, investigators said.

Valley was found shot to death behind the wheel of the Inifiti SUV he’d just bought.

A 31-year-old male passenger in the rear seat behind him was hit in his arm and back.

He was hospitalized in serious condition, police said.

No one else was hurt.

A portion of southbound 170 was shut down as investigators gathered evidence.

Valley had been to a “high school night gathering” for Normandy High grads at Knockouts Bar and Grill at Dunn and West Florissant just outside of Ferguson.

Both the owner and police made clear there was no crime there.

Valley’s loved ones said there was an argument there.  They believed the killer followed Valley when left.

There was no description of the suspects or the suspect’s vehicle.

Valley leaves behind 4 children:  a 2 year old daughter and her 3 big brothers.  He provided for all of them.
