ST. LOUIS (KTVI) – McDonald’s St. Louis and Metro East are teaming up to help 24 outstanding students dream of going to college become a reality. Local owners of McDonald’s Wednesday gave out $72,000 of scholarships to the students.

In recognitions of the student achievements McDonald’s is hosting events in the Ferguson area despite the current unrest in the North St. Louis community.

Each of the college bound students is receiving a $3,000 scholarship in addition to laptop computers.

Jimmy Williams and his wife own 10 McDonald’s, both believe that helping the students with their educational endeavors will help build better communities.
