MADISON, IL (KTVI) – Investigators have announced an arrest in Wednesday’s murder in Madison, IL. James Moore, 23, is charged with 1st degree murder and a felony count of obstructing justice. Moore’s bond is set at $250,000.

Police found Mitchell Coleman, age 44, of East St. Louis dead in his vehicle on Wednesday afternoon. The victim had multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

He was seated in the driver’s seat. Evidence at the scene indicates the suspect fired about 16 rounds into the SUV. An autopsy revealed the victim was shot at least ten times. Bullet holes could be seen in the passenger side window.

The Major case Squad of Greater St. Louis was called to investigate the murder. Witnesses told investigators that a black male in a hooded sweat shirt approached Coleman’s vehicle and fired multiple rounds into it. Police say Moore was identified by one source as a possible suspect.
