Webster Groves schools briefly locked down after report of gunshots

WEBSTER GROVES, MO (KTVI) – Several Webster Groves schools were briefly placed on lockdown Friday morning after receiving reports of gunshots being fired in the area.

The Ambrose Family Center, Bristol Elementary, Avery Elementary, Clark Elementary, Edgar Road Elementary, Hixson Middle School, Hudson Elementary, Webster Groves High School, Steger 6th Grade Center, and the W.G. Computer School Elementary were all locked down as a precaution. The lockdown was lifted shortly before 10:00 a.m.

Police responded to reports of shots fired in the 200 block East Jackson around 8:44 a.m. They said a man assaulted a victim and fled the scene. However, the victim and a witness said there were no firearms present during the assault.

The suspect, 25-year-old David Turner, was eventually taken into police custody.
