Family speaks out for help to solve murder of loved one

FLORISSANT, MO (KTVI) – As the murder rate continues to soar in the City of St. Louis; one family is hoping that someone will come forth with information that would lead to an arrest in the murder of a loved one.

He was a father and a grandfather. He was a brother.  He was a son

He was the city's 155th murder of the year. But to his family he is more than just a number.

He was Kerry Melton Jr.

Melton was shot and killed around 6:30 pm Tuesday night on East Warne Avenue in North St. Louis.

Police say the 41-year-old had been shot several times in the back.

His father says the shooting was not random.

So far, police have not released any other information about suspects or a motive behind the McClure North grad's murder.

Kerry Melton Jr.'s family believes that all lives matter.
