ST. LOUIS (KTVI) – Drivers who take the westbound Interstate 44 span over the Meramec River should consider alternate routes as work crews will close lanes on that particular bridge, the Missouri Department of Transportation said Wednesday.

According to Andrew Gates, a MoDOT spokesman, two lanes will close Wednesday evening from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. After that time, the far left lane will remain closed around the clock.

Crews will keep a pair of through lanes from I-270 and I-44 open during the day, respectively.

Work on the westbound span should be finished in less than two weeks, Gates said.
