Fabbri Scores Winner in Blues Season Opener

Rookie Robby Fabbri scored the game winning goal in his first NHL game to lead the Blues to a 3-1 season opening win over the Edmonton Oilers on Thursday night at Scottrade Center. Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina highlighted the pre game ceremony by dropping the ceremonial first puck. Vladimir Tarasenko scored the Blues first goal, tying the game at 1-1 in the second period. Fabbri’s winner came in the third period. Another newcomer scored the Blues final goal. Troy Brouwer, who was acquired in the T. J. Oshie trade added an empty net goal to finish out the scoring. Goalie Brian Elliott stopped 23 of 24 shots to get the win in goal. The Blues now embark on a six game road trip before returning back to St. Louis in late October.
