ST. LOUIS (AP) – A St. Louis man fatally shot his stepson in what police say appears to be a justified shooting.

The shooting happened Saturday afternoon on South Grand Boulevard. Police say 35-year-old Gerald Jackson pointed a gun at his stepfather as the older man was leaving a home.

The 59-year-old stepfather, apparently fearing for his life, retrieved his own gun and fired several shots at Jackson, who was struck several times before trying to run. He was found in the back yard and taken to a hospital, where he died.
