ST. LOUIS (KTVI) – The NFL is coming to St. Louis next week.  The league is holding a public forum on the topic of relocation.  Fans and concerned residents will have a chance to voice opinions and ask questions.

The public hearing will be held Tuesday, October 27th at the Peabody Opera House.  The NFL will be in Oakland hosting a similar forum on October 28th and San Diego on October 29th.  Owners of teams in each of those cities have expressed interest in moving to Los Angeles.

Entry is free, but requires an entry pass. Passes are being reserved for Rams season ticket holders on a first-come first-serve basis.  Non-season ticket holders can also request a pass on a first-come first-serve basis.  The site to registration for an entry form is www.nfl.com/stlhearing.  Registration begins Tuesday, October 20th and 8:00 a.m.

Fans we talked with shared a wide range of opinions.  They hope the league will listen to what St. Louis has to say.

“I pray that it does have some effect, and a large impact at that,” said St. Louis resident Greg Laine.

Beverly Unger says the league already allowed one St. Louis football team to leave when the Cardinals moved to Arizona.  She thinks the NFL should take that into consideration.

“Let us keep this team here,” said Unger.

Cities in danger of losing a franchise must hold a public forum under league policy.  Lewis Rice partner Rick Walsh says league policy gives each person three minutes to speak.  He views the forums as more of a public relations move.

“I don’t think it’s going to affect what the owners at the end of the day do,” said Walsh.

He says the timing of the forums suggests the NFL wants to have a team in Los Angeles soon.

“It makes it look like they are really going to be looking to move a team in 2016 to Los Angeles.”
