TROY, MO (KTVI) - A birthday celebration turned tragic overnight for a Troy, Missouri man. Hours after celebrating his 21st birthday, the body of Kyle Glover was discovered in the middle of Highway 61 Wednesday morning.
Missouri Highway Patrol investigators believe Glover was the victim of a hit and run. Authorities want to find the person responsible.
Rachelle Horne said the person who hit her brother should have stopped and helped him.
“They should have called 911 at least, could have saved him,” she said.
Family members said Glover, of Elsberry, was partying with friends at a Troy bar Tuesday night. They said he began the evening in a responsible way. He left his pick-up truck at home and a relative dropped him off at the bar because it was expected he would be drinking.
Glover’s stepfather, Carl Ray, said the young man was to be picked up later by another family member, but she was a few minutes late because of low tire pressure.
Glover apparently began walking home on his own. Loved ones said they searched for him until 3 a.m.
“No one really knows where he went to basically went missing until he was located this morning,” said Missouri Highway Patrol Sgt. Al Nothum.
Glover’s body was found in the Highway 61 median by a driver just before 9 a.m. Wednesday.
Glover’s loved ones are overcome with grief.
“Whoever did this, turn yourself in and make it easier on yourself so we know what happened to Kyle,” said Jewel Glover, Kyle’s mother. “He was in the cold rain, we don’t know if he was killed instantly or nothing. We don’t know nothing.”
“I want to know what happened to my baby.”
Kyle was engaged to get married next summer. He and his fiancée planned to hold the wedding reception at a local state park. His wake will be held there instead. Troopers are asking if anyone saw anything to give them a call.
