NORMANDY, MO (KTVI)- First on the Web:
The teenager wounded in the Normandy shooting has died. According to the Normandy Police Department, he has been identified as 18-year-old Amonderez P. Green, of the 80 block of Lynn Meadows in Florissant.
On October 28th, officers responded to the 5800 block of Bermuda Road for a report of a suicidal subject. Green was being followed by family members who were seeking help from police and medical professionals. Authorities say he was uncooperative when police and family members tried to talk to him. He continued walking to the 770 block of Ellington.
When police got out of their vehicles, Green allegedly took a gun from his waistband and began shooting at officers. They reportedly used a taser on Green. Police say it was ineffective and as a result, they returned fire.
Police say Green was not struck and fled the scene.
Officers momentarily lost track of the teen during the chase and say they heard one additional gunshot.
They found the 18-year-old on the ground and unresponsive. Normandy police reportedly recovered a handgun next to Green at the scene. Officers immediately began applying first-aid.
Green was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
He died Thursday morning of his injuries.
Green's family disputes the police department's version of this story.
This active case is still being conducted by the St. Louis County Police Department's Bureau of Crimes Against Persons.
