Apartment maintenance man shot after being mistaken for intruder

ST. LOUIS (KTVI) – A maintenance worker for a north St. Louis apartment building is listed in serious but stable condition after being mistakenly shot by a tenant.

The shooting happened around 3:35 p.m. in the 6600 block of N. Kingshighway Boulevard, located in the Mark Twain neighborhood.

Police said a resident saw a stranger in his apartment with what appeared to be a weapon in his hand. The resident believed his apartment was being burgled and fired one shot, striking the stranger in the torso.

The maintenance man had recently started working at the apartment building, police said.

No charges have been filed thus far.
