JAMESVILLE, NC — A North Carolina gun shop is defending an explicit message posted on their sign, saying it will not come down.

WNCT-TV reports that Mackey’s Landing Firearms has had the electronic billboard up for a couple weeks. The message reads, “Life’s a b****! Let’s not elect one! Republican, because not everyone can be on welfare.”

The gun shop tells WJZY-TV that the sign is a form of freedom of speech and they do not plan on taking it down anytime soon.

“It was just very shocking to see it,” Melanie Harris told WNCT. “Love your guns. Love your message. Probably wouldn’t choose that vocabulary.”
