(KTVI)- St. Louis lawyer Kevin O’Malley is taking stock of the more than a year now spent serving as the U.S. Ambassador to Ireland. O’Malley, an attorney in the Greensfelder law firm’s downtown St. Louis when President Barack Obama nominated him for the post, was sworn in on September 30, 2014.

In a post on Medium, Ambassador O’Malley wrote about the pride he felt hearing the Star Spangled Banner play on the day he presented his credentials to Ireland’s president, the connections he’s made with the Irish people, and the work to forge relationships between U.S. artists and others in a program called Creative Minds.

O’Malley and his wife live in Dublin’s Phoenix Park in a residence built in 1776.
