ST. LOUIS (KTVI) – Hundreds of families across the St. Louis area who were not expecting to have a Thanksgiving meal will now have a feast.

The Ethical Society of Police, the St. Louis Police Wives Association, and the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority’s St. Louis Alumnae chapter assembled Thanksgiving baskets—with all the trimmings—in north St. Louis on Sunday night to bring holiday cheer to the to help many families in need.

The families were selected based on a level of support needed. The gift baskets will include a turkey, stuffing, canned goods, dinner rolls, and many other Thanksgiving goodies. The baskets will be delivered to families in need in the city the week of Thanksgiving.

The organizations said during the holiday season it is important to remain thankful and humble by many blessings.

Officers helping pack the baskets said that during that the holiday season a lot of people go through tough economic times and they wanted to give back to the community. The police officers are looking forward to putting smiles on the faces of many residents.
