Amtrak train stopped by tree near Gray Summit, MO

GRAY SUMMIT, MO (KTVI) - A tree stopped a train near Gray Summit Missouri Tuesday night.

Amtrak says a passenger train struck a tree that had fallen across train tracks early Tuesday evening.  The train consisted of a locomotive and 3 passenger cars carrying a total of 34 people.

Authorities believe the trees roots had been washed out, allowing it fall on the tracks, causing the locomotive to derail.

There were no injuries, and all of the passengers were bused to their final destinations.
