Major Case Squad activated in Hazelwood homicide

HAZELWOOD, MO (KTVI) - The Major Case Squad has been called to investigate a homicide in Hazelwood, Missouri.

On Friday morning, officers from the Hazelwood Police Department responded to a call for a robbery at a car wash in the 8400 block of Pershall Road. Upon arrival, they found a 45-year-old male who had been stabbed in the abdomen. The victim, later identified as Paul Suntar, was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

According to investigators, Suntar, the son of the car wash owner, had an encounter with the male suspect who stole an item from mother's car. During that encounter, the suspect stabbed Suntar with an unknown object.

The suspect is described as a black male, 18-20 years old, 5’6” to 5’8”, with short hair. He was wearing a dark colored hoodie.
