O’FALLON, MO (KTVI) – The St. Charles County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged a 23-year-old O’Fallon man Wednesday in connection with a gas station armed robbery.

According to the O’Fallon Police Department, the robbery occurred November 29 just after 6:35 p.m. in the 1000 block of Bryan Road. Investigators said the suspect walked into the Midwest Petroleum gas station wearing a monkey mask, pointed a handgun at the cashier, and demanded money.

Police said he left the store with approximately $280 in cash.

The investigation led police to eventually apprehend William Brown. Police located a monkey mask and gun that appeared to match the ones used in the robbery.

While being questioned by detectives, Brown admitted to the robbery because he “needed money,” police said.

Brown was charged with first-degree robbery and armed criminal action. He remains jailed on a $100,000 bond.
