Search underway for suspect who fired shots at police near north St. Louis crime scene

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)- A search is underway for a suspect who reportedly fired shots at police who were working a crime scene in north St. Louis. It happened shortly before 7:30a.m. near the intersection of Norwood and Labadie Avenue. An early morning homicide investigation is taking place in the area. A male was found with gunshot wounds around 5:30a.m. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Our Nissan Rogue Runner was standing on the sidewalk between two vehicles when someone reportedly fired shots at police. Officers in the area immediately took cover. They ran between several apartment buildings to find the suspect. No one was injured, however the suspect is still on the loose. An 'officer in need of aid' call was also placed.

A second homicide investigation is underway a few blocks away on Labadie near Newstead. A male victim was found laying in front of a corner market around 1a.m. It is unclear if he was shot or stabbed. He was transported to a local hospital where he later died of his injuries.
