COLLINSVILLE, IL (KTVI)- Highway lane closure on both sides of the river could lead to traffic troubles for all drivers.
IDOT says lane restrictions will be placed along westbound I-55/64 starting at 8:30a.m. today. The closures will begin near IL Route 203, Exit 4, in St. Clair County. The two right lanes will be closed until 5:00p.m.
The I-70 and Exchange Avenue exits will remain open during construction. The lane closures will continue past the Interstate 64 merge with I-55 and terminates east of 4th Street in East St. Louis.
It's important to note that one westbound lane will be available throughout the day.
Crews will be performing essential pavement repairs in advance of the upcoming winter season.
MoDOT also has some closures that drivers need to know about. From 9a.m. this morning until 3p.m. this afternoon, up to two lanes on I-44 east around Laclede Station Road may be closed. On Saturday, December 5th, up to 2 lanes on westbound I-44 in the same area may be closed during the same time frame.
These closures are needed so that crews can finish up renovation work on the Laclede Station Road overpass.
There will be various lane closures on I-64/40 westbound on and around the Boone Bridge starting this morning as crews continue their ongoing work in that area.
Those closures will be ongoing until next weekend.
