Cardinals trade Jon Jay to Padres
ST. LOUIS (KTVI) – The St. Louis Cardinals have traded outfielder Jon Jay to the San Diego Padres in exchange for second baseman Jedd Gyorko and cash considerations.
Jay, a .287 career hitter, missed more than half of the 2015 season due to wrist injuries. He hit just .210 with 10 RBI during the year.
Gyorko, 27, has a contract taking him through 2019. He hit a career-high 23 home runs during his 2013 rookie season.
