Ski mask-wearing suspect robs store at knifepoint

knife robberEAST ALTON, IL (KTVI) – Law enforcement in Madison County is asking for the public’s help in locating a man suspected of robbing a local grocery store at knifepoint.

According to Captain T. Mike Dixon, a spokesman for the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, the robbery happened Monday around 8:30 p.m. at the Farm Fresh Convenience Store in the 700 block of E. Airline Drive. The suspect walked into the store wearing a ski mask, displayed a large knife, and demanded money from the clerk. The suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Officers from the Wood River, East Alton, and Bethalto police departments assisted the sheriff’s office with the investigation, Dixon said.

Anyone with information on the suspect’s identity and whereabouts is asked to contact the Madison County Sheriff’s Office at 618-692-4433 or via their anonymous tip line at 618-296-3000.
