ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)- If you’re swept up in ‘Star Wars’ fever over this weekend’s arrival of The Force Awakens, you’ll be happy to know the St. Louis Cardinals will also welcome fans of the movie series back to Busch Stadium next season. To coincide with the latest film release, the team announced Friday that Star Wars theme night will return in 2016.  A portion of ticket sales will benefit Stand Up To Cancer, and before the game, fans will be able to get their pictures taken with characters from the film.

Cardinals fans must hope the fourth year of the themed game breaks a string of three straight years where players happened to get hurt during the game. In 2013, pitcher Shelby Miller was hit by a line drive and had to leave the game. In 2014, catcher Yadier Molina tore a thumb ligament, and in 2015, outfielder Matt Holliday re-injured his quad muscle. It was all enough to prompt one fan to start a petition campaign on Change.org to ban the theme night from returning.

Nonetheless, Star Wars night is set to return Wednesday July 20, 2016.
