ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)-  For the fifth year, local Jews and Muslims spread out around the region on Christmas day to perform acts of community service. The event was spearheaded by  the Islamic Foundation of Greater Saint Louis and the Jewish Community Relations Council of Saint Louis, but was open to people of all backgrounds.

Organizers say this year's experience, where participants volunteered at homeless shelters, food pantries and hospitals, felt different because the times are different thanks to current events here and abroad. They praised the work done as a way of breaking down barriers between faiths by opening up dialogue.
