WEST MANHEIM TOWNSHIP, PA - From the shelf, to a local police department, a stuffed toy is helping to spread some holiday cheer. Sarge is the newest officer to join the ranks of the West Manheim Township Police department in York County. Sworn in to protect and serve, the 'Elf on the Shelf' is the eyes and ears of Santa Claus. However, this elf is taking on a little more this holiday season.

Sarge is taking his oath very seriously. You can follow his every move on the West Manheim Township Police Facebook page.

Sergeant Toby Wildason makes sure to document his silly antics on the department's Facebook page. "It's been an overwhelming response. It's kind of made it enjoyable. I've actually gotten a lot of good comments on our social media," said Sgt. Wildason.

Sgt. Wildason said Sarge joined the force last year after being donated.
