VALLEY PARK, MO (KTVI)- Route 141 is closed in both directions at I-44 in Valley Park due to flood waters. Water from the rising Meramec River backs up through the sewers in the area, flooding they busy intersection. The closure could last several days.

The rising Meramec River could also close I-44 itself in both directions west of Highway 141 Tuesday or Wednesday, something that hasn't happened since 1982.

The Meramec River is expected to crest in Valley Park on Thursday morning at 42 feet, 26 feet over flood stage. That's a new record high crest, beating out the crest of 39.73 feet on December 6, 1982.

I-44 is currently closed west of Rolla because of flooding from the Gasconade River.
