The Fighting Illini dropped their Big Ten Conference opening game to Michigan, 78-68 on Wednesday afternoon in Champaign, IL.

Kendrick Nunn led the Illini with 23 points, but Belleville native Malcolm Hill made just 3 of 11 shots in the defeat. Illinois led 37-34 at half time, but Michigan came out with hot shooting in the second half to pull away for the win. Mark Donnal led the Wolverines with 26 points, while Caris LeVert scored 23. The loss drops the Illini’s season record to 8-6.
