IDOT engineer Joe Monroe says major roads including 67 Illinois 3 and others are still affected with possible lane closures. Others will reopen sometime on Monday after the morning commute. He also says that crews are working hard to make sure the roads are inspected and safe. They`re also working on plans for repairs.
"Southbound 67 across the Clark bridge from Illinois to Missouri will be shut down for the foreseeable future." said Joe Monroe. "The Brussles ferry will remain closed. Illinois 100 because of a mudslide through Terra Point will remain closed indefinitely. We anticipate US 67 through Alton to reopen, Illinois 3 through East Alton, the flood gates should be removed. Illinois 100 to connect Alton to Grafton should be reopen, minus the one lane at the floodwall the city of Alton constructed."
Monroe says employees have treated the roads with brine because of freezing temperatures expected in the forecast.
