Rams file relocation paperwork with NFL
ST. LOUIS (KTVI) – The St. Louis Rams, San Diego Chargers, and Oakland Raiders have filed the necessary paperwork for relocation to Los Angeles.
The team issued the following brief statement on its website Monday night:
“The St. Louis Rams informed the National Football League today that the Rams propose to relocate to the greater Los Angeles metropolitan area. The relocation would be effective for the 2016 NFL League Year.”
The owners’ vote on relocation is expected to take place next week in Houston.
The franchise relocation fee is $550 million.
Rams head coach Jeff Fisher has told players to expect to be playing in St. Louis until told otherwise.
Meanwhile, the St. Louis stadium task force remains confident its riverfront stadium proposal will be well-received by league owners and that the city will retain a franchise regardless of the Rams’ plans.
