ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) - The city of St. Louis Has seen it's first murder just eight days into the new year. A man shot in north St. Louis.

Last year ended with a total of 188 homicides. The first one was on January 3rd.

Friday night police responded to reports of a man shot several times on the 2900 block of Hebert around 7:30pm. Officers say when they arrived they found a man in his 30's, unconscious and not breathing.

The victim was taken to an area hospital to be treated. A few hours later we received word that the man had not survived his injuries.

Crime scene analysts with flashlights were looking into a gray SUV parked in front of the house. A tow truck later pulled up to take that car away.

There were also roughly seven crime scene markers in the front yard of the home. This was just a few feet from where the SUV was parked.

We have not heard from police if there are any suspects at this time. I did see one man leave in a police vehicle. It looked like he was going willingly and was not in handcuffs.
