Troy Brouwer’s goal in the seventh round of a shootout finally ended the Blues losing streak. Blues goalie Brian Elliott had stopped six of seven Kings shots in the shootout before Brouwer’s winner. The Blues tied the game at 1-1 in the second period on Alex Pietrangelo’s goal. After afer five minute scoreless overtime period, the shootout commenced. Alexander Steen and Brouwer scored for the Blues. Marian Gaborik scored the only goal in the shootout for Los Angeles. Brian Elliot stopped 26 of 27 shots in regulation play as well as the six of seven shots in the shootout.

The Blues played the game without Jake Allen, Paul Stastny and Jay Bouwmeester. All three were injured in Friday night’s overtime loss in Anaheim to the Ducks. The three Blues will be examined more closely when the team returns to St. Louis on Sunday. Next up for the Blues, the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday night at Scottrade Center.
