Since 2003, the St. Louis Rams helped raise more than $600,000 through the Taste of the NFL event for the St. Louis Area Foodbank; enough for more than 2.4 million meals for those in need here.
“It’s a tough time for this region,” said Ryan Farmer, a spokesman for the St. Louis Area Foodbank. “I do think we’re strong enough to get through this; but it’s a blow.”
The Rams were a big part of the Lindenwood sports management program the past for years, offering students unique access to staff, plus internships with the team and chances to work team events – from games to community outreach.
And the team helped raise approximately $2.2 million over two decades, enough to make more than 400 wishes come true for young people facing life-threatening illnesses through the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
The overriding feelings from these charities are of both gratitude and sadness, plus a concern about what will happen to the Rams staffers who made all this good work happen; people for whom moving with the team is probably not an option.
