Knife-wielding robber holds up Mascoutah gas station

MASCOUTAH, IL (KTVI) – Mascoutah police are asking for the public’s help in locating a man responsible for an overnight robbery at a local gas station.

According to Chief of Police Bruce Fleshren, the robbery occurred around 2:15 a.m. at the Moto Mart in the 300 block of East Main Street. The suspect walked into the store, displayed a large knife, and demanded money. The clerk complied and the suspect ran away on foot. A K-9 unit from the Belleville Police Department was called to assist in the search, but the suspect could not be found.

No one was injured in the robbery.

The suspect was wearing a brown coat and a ski mask.
