ST. LOUIS (KTVI) - On a cold January day, a family gathers to remember one of their own taken far too soon. It’s been one year to the day since five-year-old Elijah Taylor was killed by a hit and run driver, near the corner of Ashland and New Ashland Place in north St. Louis.

A memorial still stands with stuffed animals and pictures, covered in snow and ice. And the anguish of losing young Elijah has not thawed at all.

Witnesses said Elijah was struck and killed by a speeding red Ford F-150. The driver was described as an African-American man in his 40s wearing a skull cap. A $5,000 reward is being offered for any information leading to his arrest. Anonymous tips are welcome.
