WEST ST. LOUIS COUNTY, MO (KTVI) – FOX 2 has exclusive video of a dramatic rescue of a horse that fell through the ice on a West County pond.
Saturday night the Metro West Fire Protection District rescued a horse that fell through the ice on a pond. The call for the rescue came in at 7 pm, and emergency crews say they just had trained for this type of situation a few days ago.
The incident occurred in the 17000 block of Manchester, as firefighter and other agencies struggle to bring the horse to safety.
Crews put on protective gear to protect them from the icy water, and used hammers and chain saws to break the ice and created a channel for them to get to the horse.
Fire officials say they are used to using their skills and they train for these type of situations.
We are told the horse is being treated and will be okay.
