Jennings votes to go forth with impeachment of mayor

JENNINGS, MO (KTVI) – The Jennings City Council voted Monday night to move forward with impeachment proceedings against Mayor Yolanda Fountain-Henderson.  The vote came after a closed door session related to personnel matters.

Fountain-Henderson left city hall Monday night declining an invitation for an interview.  She simply said she will continue to try and work with the council as the process to impeach her moves forward.

Some council members have accused the mayor of incompetence.  She was accused of acting beyond her authority in the hiring of a department head.   Supporters of the mayor say the impeachment effort is payback.  Fountain-Henderson accused two council members of illegally acquiring health benefits through the city.
