Fire district produces video asking MoDOT and lawmakers to put cable barriers on Highway 61

LINCOLN COUNTY, MO (KTVI) - New details on the push for safer roads in Lincoln County after a deadly wreck killed a mother and her two children.

First responders and elected officials have joined forces for push for cable barriers on Highway 61.

The Lincoln County Fire Protection District put together a video featuring 10 local agencies in the area, asking residents to join them in asking Missouri state law makers to pass legislation to make the road safer and save lives.

The video features fire  fighters, elected officials and many others agencies.

The video is called Barrier 61, with message to the Missouri Department of Transportation and Missouri state lawmakers to put up cable barriers that would run from Wentzville Highway 70 all the way through Troy Missouri.

The initiative comes after an accident claimed the life of a young mother and her two young daughters on Highway 61 near St. Charles last week.  Over the last 10 months, 4 other fatal accidents have occurred on Highway 61.
