ST. LOUIS (KTVI) - Did you know that 5,000 pit bulls are destroyed every day in the United States? The folks at the Partners for Pets animal shelter in Troy, Illinois are hoping to rescue as many as they can, among other animals. They're hoping to build a new shelter, but they need your help.

Patty Barney of Partners for Pets visits Fox 2 News in the Morning to discuss the upcoming Puppy Playoffs charity event designed to help raise money for pet shelters across the country. Barney is joined by Auggie, a precocious three-month-old pit bull, who is acting as the St. Louis representative in the Puppy Playoffs.
