COLLINSVILLE, IL (KTVI) – The Collinsville Police Department is asking for the public’s help to solve a sexual assault investigation.
According to Major Brett Boerm, a police spokesman, the incident happened February 4 around 12:40 a.m. outside the Wild Country night club on Gateway Drive.
The victim said she walked out to the parking lot to get some fresh air and began talking to a man. During the conversation, the man attempted to kiss the woman, but she declined his advances. The suspect then grabbed the victim, pulled her into a vehicle, and punched her in the face. The woman said she was sexually assaulted while in the suspect’s vehicle.
Mike Major has been the owner of Wild Country for 20 years. Major said he’s cooperating with police in the investigation.
According to Major, Wednesday is ‘college night’ at Wild Country. He typically staffs two security guards outside the venue and three more inside. And on those nights, they make patrons they suspect have been drinking pass a breath-a-lyzer test before they are allowed in. And for the last 12 years now, they also make patrons walk through a metal detector.
Major said 12:40 a.m. would have been a very busy time in the parking lot, because last call at the night club is at 12:30 a.m.
Police described the suspect as a Caucasian man in his mid-20s, between 5’7” and 5’10” tall, with dark hair, and sleeve tattoos on his arm. The victim also said the suspect was driving a dark-colored four-door vehicle.
Anyone with information on this case is asked to contact the Collinsville Police Department at 618-344-2131 (x5121) or CrimeStoppers at 866-371-TIPS.
