ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) - Another clipper system is heading our way late Thursday evening into tonight with another quick brush with snow. Like most clippers this does not have a lot of moisture to work with, so accumulations will remain light. The snow will be similar to Wednesday.
At this point, I expect snow to breakout over northern Missouri and Iowa Thursday evening and then spread rapidly southeast into the northern viewing area after 9pm. The brunt of this system will be north of I-70 in Missouri and I-64 in Illinois. This includes the northeast 1/2 to 2/3rds of metro St. Louis. The area should get around 1" of snow with the potential for a few spots to get "jackpotted" with up to 2".
Further south snow totals will drop off quickly with less than 1" expected.
As for timing, in metro St. Louis, 11pm until about 3am looks to be the best window, give or take an hour on either side. It will arrive sooner northwest and later southeast of St. Louis.
