Dangerous fugitive last seen in Marissa IL captured

CASEYVILLE, IL (KTVI) – A dangerous man want by authorities is captured in Russellville, Kentucky this Sunday night.  Police had been looking for Scotty Eugene Priest in St. Clair County Illinois, in and around Marissa Illinois.  Priest, 53, of Decatur Tennessee was wanted for making online threats to kill law enforcement officers in Decatur County Tennessee.

He was last seen in Marissa Illinois this past week, were the United State Marshall Service and other law enforcement agencies had concentrated in their search for Priest.

Priest was wanted on 3 felony warrants for attempting to commit and act of terrorism, harassment and failure to appear in court.

The search for Scotty Eugene Priest in the Marissa IL area was prompted by information developed by investigators from the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office.

According to authorities, Priest had no family in Illinois, but they were working to see if he had friends in the Metro East Area.

Priest has had numerous run-ins with law enforcement, and had recently been in a police pursuit last month in Tennessee. The Decatur County Sheriff’s Office considered Priest extremely dangerous and armed with a weapon or weapons.  An investigator close to the case told FOX2 that Priest was mentally unstable and should not be approached.

Priest turned himself into Kentucky police Sunday night without incident and no one was injured.

Investigators plan to have Priest transported back to Decatur County as soon as possible.
