GRAFTON, IL (KTVI) - Joanne groves has lived in her home at the 500 block of Main Street in Grafton for more than 25 years. December flooding caused a massive mudslide that left her homeless. Now she desperately wants to get back into her home.
On Tuesday Groves asked the Grafton City Council to help her get the problem fixed. The mayor says the issue was on the agenda. They’re planning to work with engineers to come up with a construction plan and estimates to help get things cleaned up. Meanwhile, Groves says she just wants to get back to a stable home.
“Mud came 3 to 4 feet high on the backside of my house I can’t live there the electric water everything is shut off to it. Someone said I had to pay for the mud removal and I don’t think it’s my responsibility. “said Groves
At this point there’s no word on a cost for repairs to resolve the issue or timeline on how long it will take. Groves is living with a son until her home is safe.
