Protecting your family from mosquitoes and the Zika virus

ST. LOUIS, MO. (KTVI)- With outbreaks of the Zika virus popping up across the country, dealing with the virus and mosquito prevention has become a top priority in the U.S.

Mosquito expert Scott Janssen of the company Mosquito Joe spoke with Dan Gray this morning with precautions for American households to keep their communities safe.

Mosquito Joe has two locations; one in west St. Louis county and one in St. Charles county.


•Eliminate any sources of standing water, including outdoor containers such as flower pots, tires or children's toys.
•Unblock drains and gutters
•Watch for low areas under decks or throughout the yard where rainwater may collect
•Avoid accumulating garbage or extra yard-clippings
