MARYLAND HEIGHTS, MO (KTVI)- If you drive on Interstate 270 in Maryland Heights then you've surely seen a new community center being built. It is set to open later this year and is packed with amenities.

The new center sits west of I-270 and is in the same area as the Maryland Heights community pool known as Aquaport. Construction started in march of 2015 and is set to be done by late June or early July.

It will replace the old center that sits next door to the construction site. That building will be torn down and become a parking lot.

The price tag is $30 million. Half of it is being paid out of the Maryland Heights savings account. The other half comes from bonds that are being funded through a half cent sales tax increase that passed here back in 1995.

Maryland Heights city leaders provided us with some artist renderings of the new center.
It is going to have a leisure pool with a zip line, a climbing wall where you can fall into the water, three lap lanes, a kiddie area and an open water area.

There will be a gym with two basketball courts, a large fitness center, a senior center, a large event and meeting room space and an ares for pre-school programming run by the city of Maryland Heights.

Officials say there will be a soft opening in mid to late July then a grand opening in the fall.

There will be fees with different prices depending on if you`re a resident of Maryland Heights or not.
