PACIFIC, MO - A fund-raiser for a Pacific church still reeling from December flooding will take place Saturday evening from 5-9:00. Friday, First Baptist Church Pastor James Perkins gave Fox-2 News a tour of his flooded-out church. "It's been going slow," said Perkins. "But we're making some progress." Deeper into the building, it is more evident how much work remains to be done. "This is where the bathrooms were," said Perkins. "Two classrooms, and the pastor's study was back there." Currently, there are no floors or walls in that space. Fund-raiser co-organizer Laura Watts-Washington is not even a member of this church. "I'm a member of the community," said Watts-Washington. "I'm a chef, and I was preparing some of the food for the fund-raiser. Spaghetti, seven-layer salad, oven-fried chicken." John Moore is an elder at Pacific Temple Church of God in Christ. "They're going to recover," said Moore, "because God is able to provide abundantly above all." Pastor Perkins said re-building here is a matter of faith. "It's going to take a little bit," said Perkins. "But we're believing that we're going to get it done." Church officials supplied the following list of building materials they are in need of:
